Contractor Management
General Information
A number of external contractors work across both primary RVC sites. When a contractor enters either the Hawkshead or Camden site, they are required to identify themselves to security. They will then be shown to reception to be issued with a visitor’s badge.
All new contractors are given a short induction (including Health & Safety Information) by a member of the Building Services Maintenance Team before their works can commence.
All day or single-visit contractors (and all individuals within a team of contractors) must ensure that they wear a visitor’s badge, and that it is visible at all times.
All contractors working under a larger contract that requires their working on any of the RVC sites over a period of time, must always be wearing their company identification as would have been agreed as part of the overall contract.
All of the above applies to any contractor subcontracted to any main contractor working for the RVC.
Contractor Conduct
All contractors are expected to conduct themselves politely and professionally at all times, bearing in mind that both RVC sites comprise facilities and activities around teaching and learning, as well as a number of working hospitals.
There is regular movement of members of the public, staff, students as well as animals throughout all areas of both campuses, so extreme caution and common sense must be used with regard to the movement of vehicles across all RVC sites. Permission from Building Services must be obtained by any contractor wishing to bring more than one vehicle onto any of the RVC sites.
