Campus Services > Parking

Parking

Space for the parking of motor vehicles within both campuses of the College is limited and it is not (unfortunately) possible for the College to meet all the parking needs of staff and students.

Camden Campus
There is no parking available at Camden, even for College Grove residents.

There is Pay And Display parking available in front of the main entrance, which is free after 18.00 and at weekends. Parking in the surrounding streets is limited to Residents Permit Parking only. In this respect, the use of public transport by both staff and visitors is both advised and encouraged.

Hawkshead Campus
Staff
All members of staff wishing to bring vehicles on to RVC property must apply for  a parking permit for which there is a monthly charge.  Permits are valid from January – December and are renewable annually .

Students
There is a car park dedicated for student use (excluding Post Grad, CTS and final year BvetMed). Parking permits are allocated by the Student Union on an annual basis. Details of the application process are issued by the Student Union prior to the start of the new academic year.   Parking for students in possession of a permit issued by the Student Union may only park in the designated student car park.

Residents
All residents may apply for a parking permit, for which there is no charge. Details will be provided by the Accommodation Office.

Clinical Training Scholar's, Post Graduate and final year BVetMed students
All of the above wishing to bring vehicles on to RVC property must request a parking permit, for which there is no charge. Permits are valid from September - August and are renewable annually .

Blue Badge Holders
Blue badge holders, who require the use of a motor vehicle to enable them to come to the RVC are exempted from any fee and may park in addition spaces designated for blue badge holders on the main campus.

Motorcycles
There is no monthly charge for staff/students wishing to park motorcycles on campus. A parking permit application form must be completed and submitted to Security in order for a permit to be issued.

All vehicles must be registered with Security and display a valid Parking Permit at all times whilst on site. Access to campus is through the main entrance only. An Automatic Numberplate Recognition system is in place, so it is essential that Security is informed of any changes of vehicle.
Please see Terms and Conditions for full details of the scheme.

Visitors
Visitors are able to park on campus with prior notification via Security.  There are seven bookable, dedicated visitors parking spaces situated in front of Hawkshead House. To book a space, an e-mail should be sent direct to Hawkshead Security hhsecurity@rvc.ac.uk giving the name of the visitor, car registration (if known), date and time of arrival/departure. Security will then send a return e-mail confirming the booking.  Spaces are booked strictly on a first-come first-served basis and Security reserve the right to re-direct a visitor to a standard parking space should there be one available.

Responsible Parking
In the interests of pedestrian safety, to allow free movement of vehicles within the car parks, to allow access to the hospitals for clients and to allow access to buildings in emergencies, it is important that car owners only park in designated areas. Parking on pavements is strictly prohibited. Parking on yellow lines or in un-authorised areas may result in the withdrawal of parking permits.

The car park to the front of the Queen Mother Hospital is strictly for the use of clients.

All vehicles are parked on site entirely at the owners’ risk and the College will accept no responsibility should any damage occur.
